It was about twenty-five years ago when I first heard — and instantly fell in love with — the sound of the trumpet and the flugelhorn. Since then, I have often been accompanied by that profoundly expressive, lyrical "voice" of the multifaceted musician Markus Stockhausen.
Who could have told me that after all these years I would encounter once again the pure joy of that first, childlike excitement? In the studio, together with Markus Stockhausen and Marios Takoushis, we recorded some of my compositions for piano, flugelhorn, oud, and voice.
Marios, whom I admired — and now admire even more deeply — with his sensitivity, his ideas, his care for sound, and the effortless flow of his musicianship, along with Markus Stockhausen’s generous spirit and his beloved, resonant tone, breathed life into these compositions, clothing them in their own personal colors.
The memory grows even sweeter knowing that almost all the pieces were recorded in a single take, preserving the spontaneity of that very first encounter.
More news shall follow soon.
